Last week it was Dave Burton’s turn, and today it’s Managing Director Matt Cook’s turn to sit in the hot seat! Matt has worked at Butlers for over 18 years and as our Managing Director is an integral part of team so we thought we’d dig a little deeper to find out what makes him tick!
What’s your favourite thing about working at Butlers?
The people – I’m proud of our team and what we achieve, sometimes under extreme pressure! I’m also proud of our track record for training, giving young people opportunities and our work in the community.
What’s the most unusual job or enquiry you’ve received while working at Butlers?
To build an electric rat catcher
How do you like to relax?
I love playing guitar and making music. I appreciate film any enjoy British Comedy, I love watching live music and I’m partial to a glass of red wine.
Name three people (dead or alive) you’d invite to a dinner party.
Nikola Tesla, Morrissey, Tony Hancock.
Where do you last go on holiday?
Mexico and the Caribbean.
If you were stranded on a desert island, what three items would you want with you?
A radio, Swiss army knife, Toothbrush.
Do you have a nickname?
Not to my face!
Name one thing on your bucket list.
If you were an electrical item what would you be and why?
A fridge – in any circumstance I try to keep cool (doesn’t always happen though).
What’s the worst job you’ve ever had?
Fitting a wireless microphone pack to a semi-naked Betty Boothroyd (the then Speaker of the House of Commons) when I worked in theatre.
